An every day moment worth celebrating

Here is an ordinary every day moment worth celebrating.

Last week, it was too cold to play outside, so we built a fort. We rearranged our furniture, pulled out every blanket we could find, gathered Lucas' toys, and spent our day huddled in our fort, watching Elmo over and over and over again.

It was awesome.

Check out that static... that is some serious fort hair!

I love those tiny feet.

Steve's 25th birthday!

Yesterday was Steve's 25th birthday. It was such a blessing to be able to enjoy the whole day together as a family. After spending the past week indoors, thanks to the freezing weather, we were so excited for a warm sunny day and decided to take full advantage of it! We took a trip out to Great Falls National Park where we hiked along the Potomac River, collecting sticks and leaves. Lucas and Steve spent a lot of time checking out the birds that were fishing in the river and Lucas was fascinated by hearing the birds sing to each other. He even attempted to sing back to them. It was a blast!

I look forward to what this next year of life has in store for Steve! Happy birthday!!

Christmas 2013

This year we spent Christmas with our family in Ohio. We packed up all our presents and hit the road on Christmas Eve. First, we stopped in Columbus to visit my family. We exchanged presents and then climbed back into the car and hit the road again. We arrived in Cincinnati and were greeted by family running out to the car, arms wide open, yelling "They're here!!!" Does it get any better than that?!

On Christmas day, we got up early to open presents. Lucas was ecstatic about the new car he received from his grandparents! We spent the week catching up with family & friends, checking out Cincinnati's Festival of Lights, and eating tons of delicious food thanks to Steve's mom. On Sunday, Steve and has dad went to the Ravens vs Bengals game. Rain and all, they had a blast! Lucas and I headed back up to Columbus for one more visit with my parents.

There really is nothing like being surrounded by family. We miss them already but are so thankful for the time we were able to spend together this holiday!
