2013 in review

With 2014 less than a day away, I thought it'd be fun to do a quick recap of the past year. What a year it has been! It is incredible to see how much Lucas has changed within such a short period of time. Last year on New Year's Eve, Lucas was almost 15 months old, still sleeping in a crib and could say basic words, such as "mama," "dada," and "dog." Now at 2 years and 3 months, Lucas is sleeping in a real bed, working on potty training, and his language has exploded! I can only imagine what the next year will bring!

Here is a quick recap of how we spent our year!

We started out 2013 by moving into our new apartment. #movingday
We celebrated when the Ravens won the Super Bowl!!
We spent a lot of time at this park!
We hung out with friends. Compare our kiddos in this picture to the one below! #February2013
#November2013
We went swimming. Lucas was a fish this summer!
We ate tons of frozen yogurt!
We went on wagon rides with our buddies.

We spent countless hours attempting to cook dinner like this.

We did lots of exploring our city! #DC

We went hiking with Dad at Great Falls!
We loved our friends...  This pic was taken shortly after I accidentally cut off all of Lucas' hair. #oops
We took a trip to Anna Maria Island with Steve's family!
We spent time with our families. 3 generations of Wujek men! Can you see the resemblance?

We took the time to watch the sun set.
We spent many mornings hanging out at the fire station, checking out the trucks.
We celebrated Lucas' 2nd birthday! We spent the day riding the train at Burke Park, followed by pizza, cupcakes and some Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
And we laughed... a lot.

A trip to the National Tree

Some of my favorite days, are those when Lucas and I take impromptu trips around our city. This morning we headed out to see the National Tree. It was a chilly but beautiful morning. The National Tree was stunning and had the most elaborate toy train going around it. I'm pretty sure Lucas would have stayed all day to watch that train if I'd let him! Once we were done with the tree, we headed across the street to check out what was going on at the White House. We finished off our morning with some hot chocolate and headed back to the metro!

Breathtaking. #DC
Check out that train!

He wouldn't take his eyes off that train for a second!

Lucas' favorite part of the train- the fire and police stations.

Tis the season

Last week, Jeannie and Callie joined us for some gingerbread house decorating! Given the kids ages, Jeannie and I were expecting to do most of the decorating ourselves, but we couldn't have been more wrong! Both Lucas and Callie sat quietly at the table decorating their houses, with only a small break in the middle to dance to some Christmas music. By the end of our afternoon, both kids were covered in frosting from head to toe and we had two of the best looking gingerbread houses I've ever seen!

Lucas and Callie hard at work!

Helping out his girl.
We love this sweetpea!!

Lucas is taking his decorating very seriously!

A visit with Santa

Last night, Steve and I took Lucas to visit Santa Claus. We always say Lucas doesn't know a stranger, but after our visit last year, we didn't know how well Santa would be received. To our surprise, Lucas walked straight up to Santa, nearly cutting all the other kids in line, and climbed right up onto his lap. When Santa asked what Lucas would like for Christmas, he responded, "a firetruck!" No surprise there!

I love comparing this Santa picture to the previous two years. It amazes me how much he has grown!

Friendsgiving

One of the things that I am most thankful for in my life are my friends and their children. So to let everyone know how thankful we are for them, we hosted our first "Friendsgiving" last night. It was a blast. Lucas and I spent the day preparing a traditional Thanksgiving meal. We had pumpkin pie, mashed potatoes, stuffing and a turkey (which Lucas described as looking like a "big bug"). After everyone ate dinner, we had turkey cupcakes for dessert, did a little craft with the kids and then it was bedtime for these kiddos!

Proof that I spend too much time on Pinterest.
Our turkey cupcakes!
Lucas tested and approved!

Holiday "poppers" are a family tradition of ours

Thankful for these 4 kiddos!

Lucas was so excited this morning to find this pilgrim hat left over from the poppers!
I love that he finds himself so funny. He laughed until he had tears in his eyes. #thankful
