A day in DC with my buddy!

Last week, Lucas and I hopped on the metro and headed into DC for the day. Our first stop was at Dad's work to say hi. Lucas has been fascinated by the idea that Steve takes the train to work, so he found this very cool! From there we went to the National Mall and walked around a little bit before heading in to the Museum of Natural History. I've been wanting to take Lucas to their butterfly exhibit for a while, but wasn't sure how well it would go over, given his fear of bugs. Surprisingly, he loved it! He even got to hold a butterfly on a paintbrush. After leaving the museum, we stopped by a street vendor for lunch. Lucas talked about the "hotdog truck" for the rest of the day... two of his favorite things combined- trucks & food!

Here are some pictures from our day!

Hey there Daddy!

Lucas LOVED all the school buses sitting outside the museum!

"Rarrrrrrr" as Lucas would say.

The butterfly exhibit was beautiful! They have over 400 butterflies flown in from all over the world. Very neat!

Holding the butterfly on a paintbrush so we don't damage their wings!

  1. What a beautiful family day! Luke is lucky to have such exceptional parents who expose him to so much in a loving, fun way:)
